On June 3rd, 2021, We successfully completed our 7th Year Anniversary and Award Ceremony program. We celebrated the program by conducting a panel discussion “Nice Nasty Talk – Season 2” with prominent actress Ms. Swastima Khadka, Former Chief Editor of Kantipur TV Mr. Dil Bhusan Pathak, and GM of Rashtriya Nach Ghar Mr. Ashok Pyasi Rai. We also had legendary comedian-actor, singer, and writer Mr. Madan Krishna Shrestha sir in the event as our chief guest.
The panel discussion was really insightful where they talk about the “Mainstream Person with a Disability on Visual Media”. The verdict of the discussion is “To work on mainstream media requires visibility of disability, regular interaction, inclusive guidelines, and disability-friendly structure and perception.” Dr. Birendra Raj Pokhrel Sir also gave his final commentary word saying that we need to be more sensitive and do more to increase accessibility in visual media.
In the ceremony program, we also had launched our very first short movie “The Cassette Player” where all the characters in the movie are blind artists which is the first time in the history of Nepal. Since we are planning to make our short movie more accessible and inclusive. We would really appreciate it if anyone can support us to do so.
We also had an award segment where we honored talented personalities with awards and certificates. We presented Sristi Upama Prativa Puraskar to blind cricket player Mr. Padam Bahadur Badaila, Blind Rocks Blue Bird Award 2021 to Ms. Sabitri Poudel, and Blind Rocks Best Staff Award 2021 to Ms. Divya Shah Thakuri. We had about 400+ viewers in the zoom and many viewers were connected through Facebook LIVE throughout the world.
We are extremely grateful to our three panelists for their time and insights. And thank you so much to Mr. Madan Krishna Shrestha sir for his warm words. Likewise, deepest gratitude towards all our supporters, donors, volunteers, members, media, and well-wishers. Also, we are thankful to Mr. Roshan Pokhrel sir from ProElite Club who helped us conveniently carrying out yesterday’s program by providing Zoom platform.
We thank every individual for their participation and support without which this journey wouldn’t have been a success.
