Sagar Nepal, a 24-year-old from Baraha Municipality in the Sunsari District, has experienced a profound transformation through his involvement with Blind Rocks. Born blind, Sagar initially faced societal limitations and personal insecurities about his abilities and appearance. However, his journey with Blind Rocks reshaped his self-perception and unlocked his potential.
After moving to Kathmandu, his performances were only confined to his college, and he had limited exposure to broader platforms. Nepal gradually immersed himself in the vibrant community of Blind Rocks, participating in various events and workshops that broadened his horizons and bolstered his confidence. Sagar first connected with Blind Rocks through music, receiving an invitation to perform at the ACE Fest event. This opportunity marked the beginning of his deeper engagement with Blind Rocks, leading him to participate in various events and workshops, including dance , theater and personality development sessions.
The personality development workshop, in particular, had a significant impact on Sagar’s musical career. Learning about posture, body language, and gestures enhanced his stage presence and confidence. These skills were pivotal when he competed in Mr. and Mrs. Blind Rocker International, where he won the title. Nepal shares, “Participating in this beauty pageant has brought me significant visibility, appreciation, and respect from everyone, including teachers, family, relatives, and society. It has changed how my friends, teachers, and society perceive me.”
Sagar’s success in the beauty pageant was a turning point. It banished his self-doubt and hesitation, enabling him to walk on stage and perform with newfound confidence. The training he received in public speaking and interpersonal skills made it easier for him to communicate effectively and captivate audiences. Sagar expressed that prior to these experiences, he often felt he lacked something and might appear odd, but these insecurities faded as he embraced his capabilities.
Reflecting on his experiences, Nepal expressed, “I am immensely grateful for the impact Blind Rocks have in my life. The recognition I have received, skills which have honed and the confidence I have gained I feel honored to be part of this family.” Sagar has contributed his voice in two of the blind rock songs so far. From a young man with limited opportunities and self-doubt, Sagar has emerged as a confident performer and speaker. He aspired to participate in other reality shows and pursue further opportunities. Blind Rocks not only gave him experiences for the musical journey but also instilled a sense of purpose and direction.
