Anil Thapa from Dhanusa district is a 47 years old, passionate and professional dancer. His journey brought him to Kathmandu for higher studies, where he balanced academic pursuits with his passion for dance. Despite life’s struggles, he dedicated himself to both his studies and dance classes, eventually making a name for himself as a model and choreographer. His talents took him international, performing various dances and working as a dance teacher. Anil even had opportunities to act in movies alongside mainstream artists and appeared in numerous music videos.
However, Anil’s promising career faced a severe setback when an accident left him blind in one eye. “I got pushed back from life after that incident,” he recalls with sadness. This tragedy not only affected his professional life but also his personal relationships. Friends, relatives, and even family began to treat him differently, leading to a deep sense of loneliness. Feeling alienated, Anil left home and went abroad, hoping to find solace and a fresh start.
Life abroad was challenging, and Anil struggled significantly after losing his sight. But a turning point came when he learned about Blind Rocks, an organization dedicated to empowering visually impaired individuals. Through this organization, he connected with Sristi KC, a remarkable woman who lost her sight but continued to conquer the world with unwavering strength.
Anil’s involvement with Blind Rocks led to his participation in the music video “Sikka,” where he not only danced but also choreographed performances. The success of the “Sikka” music video was a true comeback to his resilience and talent. The Blind Rocks team, especially Sristi Ma’am, inspired Anil deeply. Her courage and determination rekindled his own drive to overcome adversity.
Today, Anil feels empowered and motivated to rebrand himself. He has transitioned into a new role in marketing, travelling from place to place for work. His journey from despair to empowerment has instilled in him a renewed sense of confidence. He no longer gives up in the face of challenges and is currently writing a novel about unfinished dreams, sharing his story to inspire others.
